The E-Vario-Weeder has been designed with attention to detail and performance. Below you will find a comprehensive description of its technical capabilities and features.
The machine is modular in design. A module can be attached per crop row and configured freely. The working width can easily be adjusted from 1.5 metres (e.g. 4 rows with 30 cm spacing) to 3 metres (6 rows or more). This makes the machine suitable for both smaller plots and large-scale cultivation.
Crop recognition and algorithms
The cameras work in combination with deep learning algorithms that are specially trained to recognise crops. Algorithms are currently available for:
- Iceberg lettuce
- Endive
- Celery
- Cabbages
- Nursery crops
- Sugar beet
- Chinese cabbage
- Swede
- Radicchio rosso
On request, Lauwen Agro Engineering can train new algorithms for specific crops, enabling the machine to be used for niche cultivations as well.
Working speed and precision
The maximum working speed depends on the plant spacing within the row. At a spacing of about 30 cm (such as in iceberg lettuce), the machine can operate at up to 3.5 km/h. With smaller spacings, the speed is adjusted to guarantee precision.
Using the tablet app, you can easily set the safety zone, determining how close the blades come to the crop. This provides maximum control and flexibility during operation.
Drive and energy consumption
The in-row hoeing blades are electrically driven, ensuring fast and precise movements. The machine requires only 30 litres per minute of hydraulic capacity and does not need any additional facilities from the tractor.

The machine is equipped with remote service, allowing technical support to often take place remotely. This significantly shortens response time and minimises downtime in the field.
