The E-Vario-Weeder has been developed for growers who want to take weed control to the next level. Whereas conventional methods often rely on chemical products or manual labour, the E-Vario-Weeder works entirely mechanically, supported by the latest technologies in cameras, artificial intelligence and electrically controlled blades.
Using high-quality cameras, every plant in the field is accurately recorded. The smart deep learning algorithms flawlessly recognise the difference between crop and weed. Based on this information, electrically driven hoeing blades move in and out of the crop rows, cutting weeds right up to the plants without causing damage.
Efficient and versatile
The E-Vario-Weeder is suitable for a wide range of crops. Algorithms are currently available for iceberg lettuce, endive, celery, cabbages, nursery crops and sugar beet. New algorithms can be developed on request, allowing the machine to grow with the user’s crop choices.
The working width can be modularly adjusted from 1.5 to 3 metres, with between three and six intra-row hoeing modules mounted on the rear frame. Each camera monitors two crop rows and controls two electric hoeing modules. This makes the machine flexible in a wide variety of cultivation systems and row spacings starting from 20 cm.
User-friendly and adjustable
With the supplied tablet, the operator can easily adjust settings via an app, such as the ‘safety zone’ – the minimum distance the blades must keep from the plant. This allows real-time response to changing conditions in the field, such as variations in plant size or soil conditions.
In addition, the machine can be used both day and night, allowing the work rhythm to be optimally adapted to the weather, staff availability and the crop growth cycle.
